As early as I was a little girl I have always wished to have a dog or at least cat. My parents like animals but they have never allowed me to have any. Now, several years later and much cleverer I understand to their arguments. We were living in central Prague - Žižkov (my parents are still living there) - and when we visit them nowadays , I can´t imagine myself, where to go for a walk with a dog there.Asphalt pavement of the tenement houses are not giving much space and suitable setting for nice walking and going out with dogs. However, they could have allowed me to have a cat - although I know they were clever enough not to allow me that, as we were travelling by train to our cottage periodically every weekend. My parents always had a bag with supplies of food for the weekend and were holding me and my sister by hands. It is horrifying even me to imagine to have another bag with a dog or cat after the years . So I was enjoying time with dogs at my grandmother´s little garden in Troja, not far away from the ZOO. I was walking with them there but the dogs were usually at home sooner than me. And the time went on… When I got married, me and my husband had parrots, fish. Once in the evening, when we were on our way home from a visit, we met a black cat at the entrance door. We invited him for milk and he stayed with us untill we were expecting our first baby. Then we found him a new home.He was good, whole black with white on his chest and also very fondling. After moving into a bigger flat in Jižní Město, when our son was 3 - 4 years old, my husband brought another kitten (persian cat) at home, her name was Amanda. She demanded regular care about her coat, which was obviously my task. She had never lernt to do her "toilet things" only at one place (most probably because of unsuitable way of breeding by large-breeder). About two years later we found her a new home by our friends who live in a house with garden. Later we came to know that she was run over by a train. Later we had another cat - called Micinka, who was brought by my husband again when he and our two sons met her when accompanying grandmother home. She was never too fondling - it became better as she was getting older, she even fell down from balcony from the 6th floor, which she survived only with a shock and bruised rear. She lived till 2004 with my older son Míša, but sudden disease shortened her life. And the time went on… Since 1995 me and my son Martin are living on a housing estate in Prague - Jihozápadní Město - just above Prokopské údolí (valley). We pass a street and are in fields, greens, beautiful gardens… Again we had fish - however, the more we tried to make their aquarium better the worse they were doing. In spring 1997 at a Cat Show we saw lonesome black little cat who had a scar on her nose and chronic cold and who was offered there by Rescue Center. We decided to take her and offered her new home. She was grateful for each touch and was sleeping with delight with us in our bed. She was always behaving well and never did anything bad. Primarily she was called Babetka but we started to call her Bětka - Bětuška. We have also been travelling to my friend Lenka who lives in a village by Chrudim for a longer period of time. She has always had dogs - firstly bassethound bitch called Bessinka, then irish red setter bitch who she has taken up. When she lost Bessinka, she acquired immediately a new rescued dog ( bastard bitch of cesky fousek) from a shelter in Havlíčkův Brod. A chief of the Havlíčkův Brod rescue center Eva has supplied her with number of dogs since then. Half a year later black and white Happynka and in 2001 also Roxanka has joined her pack. In the meantime, Lenka has acquired also something for showing - bearded collie bitch Amálka Brown Horká čokoláda and she has also kept a bitch from her own litter called Andělka Chlupatý hopan last year. (see Links - Chlupatý hopan). So she has 5 dogs in her pack at this time. So this person is responsible for the first dog coming into our family and also the founder of our pack. Black bastard dog was found in their village at some beams in May 1998. He did not belong to anybody, he did not shoot cats and he got the name Čert od Řestockých klád. He moved to live with us and Bětuška at the beginning of holidays in 1998. Čert and Bětuška were living next to each other without any troubles. As we had been watching agility allready before Čert came to us and because we liked that, we also begun to learn that. Čert was not very quick, he was running with me for my pleasure and we were competing together for three years. In the meantime we started to think if one dog is not few - so we decided to buy a new dog - we acquired a cavalier bitch Felinka. Since she was a little puppy she was coming with us in the dog training place where we slowly begun agility training and then racing as well. Unfortunatelly she was not very successful at shows so a new cavalier bitch Týnuška has joined our family in june 2000. We devote with her to agility and showing with bigger or smaller successes. In august 2001 we lost Bětuška after a serious disease and on 21st of June 2003 we suddenly lost Čertík. We are keeping nice memories of them and our pack is now compound of Felinka and Týna who are now 8 and 7 years old. These two older ladies are accompanied by Týna´s daughter Anuška (* 02/2004). It was clear that she will stay with us at the moment when our friends had decided to take a dog instead of a bitch puppy. So Anuška has made our family bigger. |
